Re: Free-horizontal mill and south bend shaper
I sent you an email about the horizontal mill.. a friend and his sons have been picking up some machines and not all that far away. I am going to call and see what he says. What type of taper is the tooling?

Re: Boiler, home made!
considering all those pipe couplings that got welded onto the shell are not rated for the purpose and don't even appear to be schedule 40 I would say if you are not going to make needed repairs its a condemned vessel. True weld outlets are heavy wall with no threading inside the area to be welded. T...

Re: USA Trip from San Francisco to Las Vegas
I was thru the LA Union Station a couple times 40 years ago. Its a place you see once in a while in films and TV shows and to be able to see it in person is nice. If you like full size trains there is nothing quite like going out on Cajon or Tehachapi and watching heavy tonnage being moved up and do...

Re: ENC Variable Frequency Drive
My VFD is Lenz, a US company. The language in the manual is still difficult, due to the specialist technical jargon. They should include a glossary, or better yet just have it written for the users instead of for each other. I have used quite a few Lenz or ACtech drives.. they have been used in alo...

Re: ENC Variable Frequency Drive
All VFD makers need a lesson from Automation Direct on how easy a VFD can and should be to set up.

Re: SB chucks rotary table and misc.
I will add this instead of editing the previous post.. maybe it needs to be a rule that postings to questionable sites are just deleted. I consider most all the mass social media sites as questionable and violate the rules of no politics for this site.

Re: SB chucks rotary table and misc.
I concur. First time I have ever looked at marketplace. One can tell how bad farcebook is in how badly is slows down the computer and internet connection trying to skim information back and forth. Maybe its not so bad on a phone but I run the computer thru its weekly purge early to mitigate any garb...

Re: Left handed lathe, for lack of a better name
I can see the need for such on a gap bed lathe where having the cross slide to the left of center would be advantageous. I will look the oddball Harrison over when I go back to get it running. This has been one of those shake your head in disgust things, this shops 'mart guy swapping parts that had ...

Re: Left handed lathe, for lack of a better name
I recently worked on a good sized Harrison lathe, it and its sister lathe were both ordered new in 1978. For some reason the then owner of this shop had one of the lathes built with the cross slide dial left of the carriage feed. Guess which lathe has almost no use on it, I would consider that a lef...

Re: Ring for a Troyke graduated in minutes
Several years ago I bought a 14" Troyke rotary table and it too is missing the dial and handle so I have kept on the look out for one to appear.. In the meantime the one off my 20" Troyke is the same and I can swap them when needed.

Re: SuperMax VS 2hp mill head rebuild parts
I messed with it a bit late yesterday evening it must be something in the back gear drive.. I can't recall if I dug that far into the head 20 years ago when I fixed the brake. So it could be something that I missed, bolt, nut, etc that has finally worked its way into somewhere or maybe wood dust has...

Re: SuperMax VS 2hp mill head rebuild parts
yes, I am pretty sure of what I will find though, then it just depends on if any damage due to the nylon bushings or sleeves being worn away is repairable. can you 3d print a bearing type of nylon?
