Re: Lombard Log hauler

THARPER Thanks for the invite. It is only about 1700 miles to the museum. So I don't think I will just be dropping in. But it is on my bucket list. Did you see the beginins of the sled for Chris.

Lombard Log hauler

I am attempting to build a 2 inch scale log hauler. I am using the plans in livesteam mag. The question of the day is about the boiler. It will be a 6 inch barrel with 20 5/8 od flues and a fire box of about 4.5 by 8 inches and 6 inches deep. The cylinders will be 1.25 by 1.5 inch stroke. These will...

Don't know if the donkey can handle something that big. It is on the small side. We did manage to put both the shay and donkey in the shop for repairs.

Allen 10 wheeler boiler

Getting ready to replace the boiler on my 10 wheeler. What is the collective thought on girder stay or 3/8 rod to the top of tube and crown sheet. If round stays how many? Also any other changes to add or consider. It will be professional welded. Going to use 3/8 stays instead of the 1/4 in plans.

I have mechanical and displacement lubricators on my equipment. Do I use the same steam oil in both or different? I was planning on ordering a 5 gallon pail of either green velvet , Mobil 600 super or shell product. A couple of us were discussing the differences and the question came up about the sh...

Re: Tender Tank

I went to local sheet metal shop had a galvanized box made. Soft soldered all of the joints. The last one lasted over 20 years and it only cost fifty bucks. Mounted it on 1/4 inch wooden spacers for ventilation and allow any spills to dry

Steam Donkey

Anybody out there have a Steam Donkey. I have one and just love watching the gears and drums spin. I want to set up a display at some steam meets (ie. Soule this fall) looking for suggestions. It is 1.5 inch scale and currently on a flat car with an A-frame hoist attached. Propane fired (firebox so ...
