Re: holesaw on a lathe
Look up a tree panning tool. It’s actually easy to grind and they cut like butter. Ground one the other day to cut a 8” slug out of a 2” plate of mild steel. Had to cut one side halfway through, then flip it over and cut through the other side till I just got through then pushed it out in my press t...

Re: 2005 Ford power stroke
little late to the party here. I have an 06. You probably have a egr cooler failure. Your options are to do an EGR delete, your cheapest option, a Bulletproof egr cooler, about 3k, or while your at it, go with the full bulletproof kit for that engine, consisting of a new egr cooler, headbolts and ga...

Re: Cheap face mills
I got one of these the other day, NOS Kenametal 2" with kenametal inserts. Took a little fiddling with but it cuts a ok finish in mild steel but I noticed that it liked the higher end of the RPm and a fast feed rate. I was running 930rpm and about 12ipm feed at .010 Depth. IM running a Lagun 2h...

Re: Destroying ammunitions
I work for a Police Dept. All old unsafe ammo is destroyed by burning in a fire in an area about 50yds away from everything else . Put them loose in a cardboard box and throw it on the fire and run behind cover. The cardboard box will give you enough time to take cover. loose Burned bullets that det...

Re: New Grizzly G0709
looks good, I have the same machine. Let me give you some tips Ive learned over teh last 2 years. Go to a farm supply store and purchase some hay baler rubber belting. Make 4 washers to go between the motor and motor base mount to eliminate vibration from the motor. Also check the alignment of the m...

help with Pexto 24" box brake fingers
I picked up a px24 but it was missing all the fingers and clamps. Looking on EBay for the price of fingers, OUCH!!!. I have decided to make them from 4140ph but I need a dimensional drawing of a finger from someone. Anyone have one of these that could take a few minutes to measure one? Thanks in adv...

Re: Is it worth much
Rooster, what part of LA are you in? Im in the Baton Rouge area but travel to north LA a good bit. Anyway I had a lathe like that, the 12 atlas Just without the underdrive cabinet. Mine was basically unused, but had sat up for 30+ years and has some rust spots, but was very mechanically tight. Those...

Re: Headstock and Gearbox Oil Question
Glenn, I emailed Grizzly about this, and like you, I found their oil recomendations lacking. The rep recomended either low viscosity hydraulic fluid or Velocite 10 for the headstock, and vactra 2 for everything else.

Re: Lathe Arrived: How Do I Get It Off the Pallet?
G0709? I got the same lathe a month or two ago. What I did was to use my porta power to pick it up off the pallet and bolt my leveling feet to the bottom, then place blocks in between the pallet slats onto the floor. I then took my sawzall and cut up the pallet, pulling the pieces out. Then I placed...
