Re: 1867 Otto Langen IC engine

Will be glad to send pictures of the 1/8 and 1/16 scale models. I'd be interested in pictures of the 1/8 and 1/16 scale models. I use Alibre and have been thinking about converting my Lenaz paper plans to electronic versions. If you sell the 1/8 or 1/16 plans can you supply them in Inventor, STEP o...

Re: 1867 Otto Langen IC engine

Rog may be selling the Langen plans now. Is there a consensus on Mr. Lenaz's status? It would be a shame to trample on his copyright.

Do you need (or want) 2-1/2D, 3D, or 4th axis capability? 2-1/2D is available free to ~ $200 for hobbyist programs, 3D gets a lot steeper and 4th and above can be downright sobering. I'm using SprutCAm which supports up through 5th axis but it was available at a steep discount from the supplier of m...

It can be hard to find hands-on help and is much easier if forum members have some idea of your location. To find them, try starting threads in appropriate forums that say something like "CNC design help needed in mid-Florida". You only need one or two hits to start making real progress. Y...

Is Port Saint Lucie in Florida? There should be some hobbyists in the area that you could connect with. Try: http://www.cnczone.com and http://www.artsoftcontrols.com/forum/index.php The latter is a forum for users of Mach3 which is low-priced software to control the hardware on CNC machines.

Could it be a chain oiler on a shaft that is periodically catching on something?

Thanks Harold. I was trying to be politically neutral by using examples from both political "wings".

What would that combination run the typical hobbyist? I'm guessing it's more than most of us have in our home shops.

Sounds like you talking about the knee lift shaft assembly parts, which are parallel to the floor. I have an 8540 horizontal mill, which is similar. You should be able to oil the gears by reaching under the knee with an oiler. It looks like the only way to easily oil the shaft is dribble a drop or tw...

How far is one expected to go to provide helpful advice?
I'd probably start by considering how I'd want my wife or family to be treated in a similar situation after my passing. If it was George W. Bush's garage sale (or Rod Blagojevich's), I'd have a different attitude.
