Re: Help stripping a Winchester 52 bolt please.

I appreciate that Tim. I quit trying to strip it when my skill level was surpassed by the problem. I got it quite clean with my ultrasonic cleaner and that's enough for me.

Thanks,

Re: New stock

Aha, that explains it. That was one whopping tree from the sounds of it. The only cherry we get wild up here would be a chokecherry and you would be lucky to get a ramrod out of one of those.

Keep us posted with pics will you?

Re: New stock

Neat looking project Al. Good on ya. Say, what type of Mauser is that? Looks like a Swedish safety but the cocking piece doesn't ring any bells.

Re: Help stripping a Winchester 52 bolt please.

Thanks again Paul. I shall include a picture of my bolt. As you see, it differs from the one in your diagram. They did refinements to the 52 apparently, until they launched the 52B. You see my firing pin has a large screw head on the back, holding on a "bell". That bell is large enough to prevent th...

Re: Help stripping a Winchester 52 bolt please.

Very helpful PaulJ. Thanks for that. I will take a couple of those $11.00 barrels if you don't mind. That page you quoted wouldn't have a schematic would it? I would like to know what the bolt retainer pin is.

Re: Help stripping a Winchester 52 bolt please.

Thanks for the note. I tried your method and it doesn't work. It appears as if the 52 is quite substantially different in design from the 52B-C-D's. There is also the chance that I have an aftermarket trigger that prohibits the removal of the bolt. I have had this apart as I have mentioned and it si...

Re: Ross Rifle bolt lug weld

Thanks for the heads up on the bolt. That is a fair price. I will look into that though I have my suspicions that Numerich will not ship to Canada. I shall find out.

Re: Ross Rifle bolt lug weld

Harold, I am going to weigh your 8 1/2 thousand posts against my 4 and defer to your knowledge. I will look for a surplus bolt head for this rifle. I would dearly love to have a TIG welder but for the tiny amount of welding I do, It's not worth it. Frankly, I really like gas welding as it's quiet, e...

Re: Ross Rifle bolt lug weld

It's a sporterized military Mk.III in .303. It's really rough but I just feel I want to fix it up and get it looking nice. Not military mind you, just a better sporter. I agree with your fix notion though I have been warned off it. I just feel it's not going to get that hot. Howsabout MIG? Would tha...
