Re: tender sealing

I recently rebuilt an Allen American Tender and used flex seal quarts instead of spray. The tender was sandblasted then prepped with metal etching primer and all holes were sealed with plugs. We poured the flex seal in and smoothed it with a paint brush. As each surface cured the tender was rolled o...

Re: Boiler Dry Pipes Question

I also forgot to ask when firing with propane, is it necessary to draft the boiler with a vacuum until enough pressure is in the boiler to use the internal blower?

Boiler Dry Pipes Question

All, I am just completing the reconditioning of on older Allen 4-4-0 American that I acquired about a year ago. The locomotive sat for almost 5 years and was in need of a major disassembly and going over. Through the help of some friends in our local club (NEOLS) I have everything just about back to...

Re: Wanted 1/4" brass angle 36" length

Solar 1953,
I arrived home from travel and looked through my brass inventory. Unfortunately I do not have any 1/4 x 1/4 in the thickness you are looking for. Everything I have is thicker. Sorry I could not be of help. Best of luck in your quest.

Re: Wanted 1/4" brass angle 36" length

Solar 1953, I am out on travel for work at the moment but I can have someone in my shop check in the next day or so. I know I have several long lengths of angle but need to confirm the dimensions. I have acquired a pretty good selection of brass stock in longer lengths over the years as you can neve...

Re: Railroad Supply SD35

Glenn, Erie and rkcarguy, Thanks for the responses and information. Erie you were correct in that the filter is for the hydrostatic drive and I was able to locate the proper filter. As it turns out, I spoke with the good folks from RR Supply and as usual, they were extremely helpful and willing to d...

Railroad Supply SD35

All, I have an older RR Supply SD35 with an 8 HP Kohler power plant. The power plant has a remote oil filter and cooler on the system. I am in need to do an oil change on the locomotive and I would like to replace the filter as well. Does anyone know where to get a replacement filter? Being an Ex-pi...

Re: Identifying this locomotive

Nik3V, I have the identical loco with a different road name. As Pontiac Guy stated, it appears to be a railroad supply and mine is an absolute joy to run. I picked mine up from a guy who was liquidating a collection and it also had zero hours on it. Great puller and certainly easy to operate. Get it...
