Ross: Some very cool information. One quick questions while were on the subject. I I'm not to clear on this, but shorly after a student demonstrated that making Bio-Diesel from fryer fat was a very easy, One or two states outlawed the production and use of it by private individuals. Have You heard a...

Re: GM & GE - Watch Out!
"Its very cost effective. It requires thirty five HP per ton on road and only five on rail." Back in the late 60’s a friend and infamous poet used to broadcast, “ Click’ity clack click’ity clack send that freight piggyback”. Amongst other things he also touted the fuel savings of rail vs r...

Re: New member
Ted, The valve in the rocking valve engine is actually just a slide valve that rotates instead of sliding. Porting is exactly the same with a large central exhaust chamber on the rotating part and the steam coming from the front and back edges of the valve. I don't have the dimensions handy right n...

Keith, take a good look at TEL's governor design. It looks much better than the one in the original plans from Live Steam. Maybe we can get Terry to show the governor from the front so you can see how much mo' better it looks.
Yes Please !

Re: flue cleaning (coal burners)
I purchased a gun cleaning kit for 20/28 gauge shotgun but the brush is too large and the solid rod doesn't work well for tubes in the corners. Any suggestions? Can only make a suggestion on the brush. Wallmart and Dick's sporting goods carry black powder supplies. If the I.D. is .050 then a 50 cal...

Re: Flywheels
Another source for a fly wheel that size would be
bull gears from an older gas tractor like IH or Case.
They are usually spoked not sold. Just zip the teeth off
in the lathe.

There is so much work going on that You can have Your choice. I would suggest talking to Ted Rita he wi...

While I have the chance I’ll add to this. I saved up to buy a battery powered loco and sent off for it. One day the post man comes to the door with a ticket for a parcel pick up at the post office. So I DROVE to the post office, pickup the package, took it home, and opened it. [img]/ubb/images/graem...
