OK, there is no problem for me to put up a back splash and even curve it over to protect the ceiling but if I am going to be flinging the coolant around like that how do I stop it falling on me?

John, Do you still use a splash gaurd for the lathe? Looks like it would absolutely cover the cool saw if not. Is that a concrete base you've custom made? This is my approach to the situation, I cast the splash shield aside and left an open, easy to clean, space behind the lathe.
