Well, I do know there is an open source locomotive on Thingiverse for Gauge 1. It's either a SW1500 or RS3. Pretty sure it is a SW1500. You may want to look there.
No, these are different. Much, much more detailed than the files in that model.

Thanks

Re: Most cost efficient way to get steel tire blanks?

Interesting, but I believe that we are over-thinking this just a bit. The railroads were trying to maximize their longevity and lengthen the service intervals on their locomotives because they were trying to maximize their profit. Their locomotives rolled many thousands of miles over steel rails be...

Does anyone recognize these 3D prints?

Hey folks. I had these images in my "research" folder. I am progressing with my 3/4" scale high-line SW1500 project, and wanted to see if I could ask the designer of these parts a few questions. Google Books is like mecca when it comes to these old and forgotten publications.

Re: Locomotive collection looking for home

Thank you for all the responses. I apologize for not getting back sooner. My mother/Reed's wife passed away and we have been busy dealing with the funeral, etc. We will need to put all of this on hold for a few weeks or more because there is lots to sort out with their home, cars, etc. I may not re...

Available: CAD design and 3D printed patterns service

Hi folks. Even with a brand new baby in the house I occasionally get things done. Shown here on the printer are the split patterns for a 3" scale Carter Brothers link and pin coupler I just finished up for a client. These are scaled from an original in a museum in California and photographed and mea...

Please keep posting these. I love to see the "good old days", which in our hobby are still happening.

You should consider donating them to the IBLS so they can be scanned and enjoyed for future generations. They are a wonderful slice of our history.

Re: 3.5 inch gauge Hudson

Does anyone know what this builds up into? My New Haven streamliner could use a starting point like this.
