Re: Opinions on the grizzly G4003g

Nipper, Which chuck did your machine come with? Mine came with two piece jaws. Leroy............ As did mine. Make sure that you drain and refill the gearbox as per the instructions after the initial run in. The 30WT ND oil came out quite dirty after the break in. This machine has run flawlessly,an...

Re: Opinions on the grizzly G4003g

You guys help in my decision to purchase the G4003G lathe that will be delivered on Monday. Thanks again to all that responded. Leroy............ Wow that was a fast delivery. It took 4 months for mine to come in. I have been running mine since May primarily to build custom Rifles. I have no compla...

Way oil on semi auto pistol slides

I was looking at the specs for ISO-32 way oil. It is designed for sliding surfaces, and has an adhesive additive to keep it from running off of the the surfaces to which it is applied. It occured to me that these qualities might make it an excellent lubricant for semi auto pistol slides. I have been...

Re: Got my new toy today

Mine came with the two piece version. Can you say "soft jaws?" You're spending money unnecessarily for a different chuck, which most likely will still mar parts. Collets will serve you only so far. Soft jaws will take you beyond that range, with virtually the same level of precision. Are ...

Re: Got my new toy today

nipperdog, You commented on your chuck? Mine came with a very nice two piece jaw chuck. I've had mine about 4 years and it has served me well. Not a bad machine for what they sell for. Some of the guys I know made Grizzly change out the chuck because their catalog shows the two piece chuck jaws but...

Re: Got my new toy today

This is like going from a VW to a BMW You mean it does pretty much the same thing, but costs 4 times as much for parts and is significantly harder to work on? :-) Steve Not really, it means I don't have to squat my 66 year old arthritic body down in front of the Logan to adjust the spindle speed in...

Re: Got my new toy today

Finally got her up and running. This is like going from a VW to a BMW everything works just fine, and I'm having a ball making whatnots from my supply of roundstock. I need to order a Bison chuck though, the stock one is kinda rough. Overall I like it. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a356/mrriggs/...
