Re: Night Running & Lights?

Do a Google search for 12v Landscape lights. They come LED in either flood or spot configuration. The housings are OK to use on Critter engines, but you'll have to gut them to use on your American.

Re: Question about a DLS ad

Too bad they don't show loading passengers. Looks pretty tough to climb up on the elevated track to sling a leg over to straddle sit on the cars. Then, how do you get off the cars?
Check out Pioneer Valley LS or Waushakum LS videos on Utube, they both have 4 3/4" and 3 1/2" raised tracks.

Re: Temporary Trailer-Engine haul

Chris Brew - That is an elegant solution to riding the train cars on tube rail. I always had problems trailering my trains riding on any kind of rail. Just couldn't keep them from derailing on the heavy bumps, so I had to go to hook brackets to clamp to the car axles (all 4) to the tube rail. Times ...

Re: Temporary Trailer-Engine haul

instead of rails that 3/16" flanges can easily hop off of, I use wood "furring strips" that are 1/2" thick and screw them into the floor on the outside of the wheels. The wheels ride on the floor between the furring strips, and it takes a LOT to bounce over that 1/2" furrin...

Re: Temporary Trailer-Engine haul

Remember, for each freight car in your trailer add 6 inches per car for couplers. Example; I've got a 12 ft long trailer and I can not put 2 - 6 ft. cars on a track because they are 13 ft. long. (2 cars at 6ft. 6in. long each) So I alternate a 5 ft. car with a 6 ft. car on each track which just fits...

Re: Arch between engine stand and P/U

I would think a 600 lb engine with a ~24" wheelbase would fold up that 4 ft. long aluminum plate. wa6mdi- I would re-rig your steel plate to mount a 1/2" lower to your engine stand and pickup creating a smooth interface not having to jump up on the plate, and PIN ALL connections. Learned t...

Re: The Viability of Solid-State Components for Signal Systems

Thanks for the track info, Chuck! EVERY rail joint must be bonded (or insulated), and EVERY turnout must be insulated/bonded? Wow! That's a LOT of work for converting an existing track… Especially for the Lone Wolf track owners. Looks like a Capture/Release system would be easier to install and less...

Re: Track Circuit Occupancy Detection

I searched for 3 hours for BCS and only found a Facebook reference for their MABS system- Modular Auto Block Signals that I did not have permission to view, and when I went back to that exact worded Google search, the Facebook link was gone. Nothing on Facebook either for BCS Technologies Limited. B...

Re: The Viability of Solid-State Components for Signal Systems

Chuck, could you explain a little more on the track requirements for an automated system please. I read about track bonds - how and where? Insulated joints - how? Teflon sheets between fishplates and rail? What about the bolts holding it together shorting out the bond? How about turnout frogs? Just ...
