The best drill in my humble experance is the Lawson drill bit, a bit costly, worth every penny. They have a 135d split point that is self centering. They will keep drilling when other brands give up. Stay away from thier taps under 1/4", they are so hard they break easly if taping by hand. Ben

I use the Mobil Vactra #2 on my mill and other machines I have with closed ways. I have a couple tool grinders that have exposed ways that I use Johnson Paste on the ways, it keeps the grit from sticking, oil is a no-no there. In Henderson, KY (just across the river from Evansville is John Daily Surplus, 270 826-3113. ) There is another surplus dealer in Henderson also but the name excapes me. John should know where it is.
