Re: Need a little help here.
Later model, condenser-cooled Fairbanks-Morse "Z"-probably from an oil field application? Parts shouldn't be a problem, they made a million of them...not really rare or collectible, but probably a good engine for the purpose...sorry to hear about your Dad, it's not an easy thing to deal w...

Re: Manual feed/Quill shaft Problem
When the spindle binds up before going all the way down, the spring is either too short from having been broken and repaired or it is wound too tight. Re: Manual feed/Quill shaft Problem
Phillip, Your quill spring has nothing to do with your clutch adjustment....the only thing you'll find on the right side of the machine is the spring assembly. The expoded views in the manual should get you through the reassembly of the feed clutch. Your machine doesn't want grease anywhere. The fe...

Re: Fly Cutter Vs. Face Mill
The first question is what kind of mill you got? If you don't have the power or rigidity to run a face mill, then one isn't going to do you any good. Fly cutter is good for a fine finish, but is slower due to only one cutting edge. Face mill goes much faster and works fine for most things you would...
