Re: stack talk

Hello Dan, Thank you for posting this special recording! Some 30 years ago I took similar tape-recordings in Poland and Chech Repuplic, rinding in the tenders of heavy Decapods. The experiance was very similar to riding a live steam locomotive. Much more impressive, of course :) . Had to set my feet...

Used a .040 slitting saw to make the slots in the nuts. I used a 3/64 end mill to drill the cotter pin hole in the bolts. I’m not con...

Re: Northern 4-8-4 Build 3/4”

Hello bushav!
Milling those critical small rods by means of a stable turntable seems to be just the right (and safe!) method 8)
Precise work, I like it!

Beste regards

Hello Jack,
What an amazing lot of artificial brass parts! It is always a drag to have prototype drawings with such an amount of details
Still watching your steady progress with great interest and admiration.
Best regards

Re: My N&W class A 1239 (gauge 5", 1 in 10 scale)

Hello steamers, Last weekend on Father`s Day we held our first bigger international steam event at the site of DBC-T at Oberursel (near Frankfurt). Wether was fine, a bunch of fine locos ran well, and we had a lot of fun :D We had the A 1239 running on load for about 4 hours exclusively fired by the...

Hello Jack and Jim,
again, very nice details 8) . Like that construction of the water cook valve which avoids the risk of any air leaks :)
Looking forward to your Berkshire`s first steaming, good luck!

Best regards

Re: Another 2900 project...

Hello SF2900, As a friend of mine put this out to the point several years ago: To built a fine live steam model will take just about 10 % of total time for generating some 90 % of the total weight  - seems to be almost ready then  And vice versa it will take the remaining 90 % of time to ...

Hello Jack, Nothing to bee seen regarding your retirement so far :) . Fully agree to enjoy an afternoon siesta, which I like so much, too! First time I see those fine castings of the CC pumps. They will be built to perfection by adding on your jewelry 8) Your progress might me inspire to continue th...

Re: Nathan double top check boiler feed valve

Phil, For my class A 1239 I built one in scale 1 : 10 from bronze. Parts were siver soldered. Spindles and valves are made from stainless steel. It's built by means of the drawings you posted (source: Locomotive Cyclopedia 1947) and those from the N&W historical society. Fully functional it's wo...
