Re: Aluminium welding problem.

Sounds good to me, everyone's so busy stroking their egos, I'll just leave them too it. BTW, not a single post was in anyway helpful, asking obvious questions to elicit obvious answere is no help at all.

Re: Aluminium welding problem.

Of course it's a DC, I wouldn't be trying otherwise. Why does everyone bring up Tig? Anyway, practiced all day, suggested settings in the book were wrong, messed around with the settings all day today, managed to get a few horrible looking beads, then in the absence of any real help, I gave up, wast...

Re: alloy polishing.

Here are a couple of sidecovers I beat up from 1.5 aluminium. I polished one to see how it looked, bit too much bling me thinks. I've also put together a new manometer for synchronising carbs.

Re: heat shrink fit

The way I do is turn to a shrink fit size, heat the female and freeze the male. You can never get it all the way through without the pin heating up and expanding. Work quickly and have a bloody big hammer handy. A vice will often help if a hammer is not desirable.

crossbow build

Here's a crossbow I've just finished. At the moment it is slack stringed due to being very difficult to cock. I'll make a cross bow string to make it easier, the string will be under tension unlocked then and very much more powerful. Not sure of the range as I haven't fletched the bolt yet but, it s...
