Re: USA Trip from San Francisco to Las Vegas

Christian, sorry to be of little help here as that is the opposite side of the country for me, but sometime in late May to July or August I am supposed to be in Hamburg, is there any way to see those beautiful locomotives in Germany later on in the summer? I visited the track at Huserland in August...

Re: New Jersey: Cook Tool & Machine

USPS has gotten a lot better a tracking in the past 5 years or so. Before that, the package would be on my doorstep and their tracking would still say it was in the midwest somewhere. Now, it seems to be spot on and detailed. Jim B They have gotten better, but there still are issues. My former lett...

Gauging interest for piston valve snifters

Good morning All, I've been asked about "straight" snifters. These screw into the top of the cylinder casting next to the branch pipe connection. I have made a number of different designs over the years. The one on the left is a rough copy of the ones on Strasburg #90. Apparently, these we...

Re: 1.5" scale snifters

Here’s a photo: The one on the left is copied from the ones on Strasburg #90. They aren’t exact copies. 1/8”NPT. The one on the right is a Baldwin snifter. I found the drawing in a Locomotive Cyclopedia and scaled it down. The thread is 1/16” NPT. I can make up another base easily enough. 1/8”Npt or...

Re: 1.5" scale snifters

Good afternoon Tank, The “90 degree” snifters are designed to screw into the front of a slide valve steam chest. I have some “straight” ones designed to mount on the top of a piston valve cylinder next to the branch pipe connection. I’ll see if I can find a picture or 2. If enough people want some, ...

The UP design is different from most "standard" engine trucks.
