Re: Cutting oil grooves
When I did the oiling system on my bench mill, I used a Foredom grinder with a 1/8" carbide burr on the dovetails. On the gib side, I drilled through the gib and created channels along the length of the gib so that after wear/adjustment when the two holes no longer align, the oil has a path to ...

Re: Another Bridgeport for sale.
A knee mill is on my list of wants for when I do the final move/retire. But I'm not interested in moving heavy machinery across multiple states, so I'll stick with my little 900 lb. bench mill for now. Having learned on a knee I do know what I'm missing...

Re: Do you use a collant system ?
I recently put a FogBuster on my bench mill and like it very much. No coolant mess everywhere (or fog) and it seems to work pretty well so far. I had it buried under a pile of chips the other day. Happens fairly often.NP317 wrote:Nice,

It typically takes longer to clean up than to make the mess. To me it's just nice to start with a clean machine when I start something.

Re: My Bench Mill
I have been living/working in CO for the last three years, but spent the previous 15 in Tucson. And will be going back as soon as I can pitch this day job. I'm just a gringo guys, and took the usage as proffered. No offense intended. :) The mill is just a RF45 on steroids, but it will suffice until ...

Re: Choosing a lathe - power cross feed vs comprehensive thr
Depends on which is more important to you, i.e. which will you use more often? As someone above stated, you can always add a power cross feed: A stepper motor is my preferred method, but it is much more difficult to add threading capability.
Which will you use the most?
