I have an item that was new in 1947. Operating instructions have changed over the years and I have spent quite a lot on maintenance. Today it is a bit sluggish and creaks a bit but I am hoping to get at least another 20 years out of it.

High pressure compressors are expensive for a very good reason, 4500psi air can do a lot of damage. On my B2229 the 24T gear does not have a extended hub but there is a small ferrule used as a spacer when cutting metric threads. I purchased the machine used so do not know if this is original or was made by they previous owner to overcome the issue you are having.
