Re: Bits Spin in Hand Drills
grind a very slight flat part way on the drill shank. It WILL hold but u may find yourself breaking drills because of no slip. If u leave half the shank untouched, the drill will still run true when put all the way in a press or mill.

Personally,I don't like mig because u need to get all the settings just right for a certain joint and thickness and metal, and then u can weld that perfect all day...just that... strange as it sounds, I've had some success coating things with oil based wood stain. It's made to penetrate and then dry!! If u don't mind messy, mix a bit of grease with gasoline and squirt that on. The gas penetrates, evaporates, and leaves behind whatever grease u used. Really good on control ca...

Re: Is Shop Life Possible Without AC in Florida?
By all means, partition the area to what u need to work in, not storage or other uses. Yeah, it makes for a smaller area, but u can insulate the devil out of that area, put in an ac for just that, and use it regardless of the temps outside. A plus is the ac takes moisture out of the air and, by keep...

Re: Steam turbine generator
get hold of a turbocharger (junkyard?) and redesign. The exhaust half is designed to extract power from expanding gases so theoretically, should be a good starting point and size seems about right. :>)
