Re: tractor engine top end rebuild

Not that your going to do it now, but many manufacturers recommend replacing head bolts / studs when rebuilding an engine. Each time you torque them down they stretch, they are designed too. With each consecutive torqing they stretch even more, and before you know it they have stretched to the point...

Re: Clover 14/20 lathe

I don’t like the machine enough to warrant the expense so I didn’t go any further. I would contact Summit lathes and ask about the manual and ge...

Top Mount Bell 1-1/2 scale **SOLD**

Available is a top mount bell for 1-1/2" scale. I do not know the manufacturer, maybe someone can identify it. The bell is brass, the rest of the parts appear to be die cast

Open to all reasonable offers.

Re: steam channel

Why did full size steam die and diesels take over? Maintenance / costs were probably the #1 factor. In simplified terms the hobby isn't that much different......cost (and time ) to build a steamer and maintenance required to keep it going. It can take thousands of hours to build a steamer, never min...

Re: 10 USRA Mikados

What ever happened to this build series? 2016 were the last of the series by hwboivin3. For what it is worth , I recently decided to part with my castings for my RRSC Mikado project as I have decided to build something much bigger. If anyone is interested please PM me. I will probably take some pict...

Re: Fixing the electrics in my old German mill Ruhla 250/710

Check your ground points .......sounds like something is searching for a ground and is trying to pull a ground circuit anyway it can , including through the relay coils, lights, etc, inadvertently energizing them.

Re: Taper roller bearing removal ?

The big problem is China is producing bearings, and many other items, and the packaging to go with them and passing them off as OEM. If the price on a bearing looks to good to be true, it probably is a knockoff.....go to an authorized distributor. JCFX, where in NY are you? I could make a few sugges...
