Re: Wanted-Running Conner Beam Engine

Hi Tim,
Tom and I have been chatting. He wants to sell his whole train, engine, cars, everything. More than I need and more than I want to spend. But thank you for the lead.

Wanted-Running Conner Beam Engine

Hello all, Just like the title says, I'm looking to buy a ready to run Conner Beam engine. 7 1/2" gauge. I live north of Nashville Tennessee by about 30 miles and do attend the Mid South Live Steamers spring and fall meets. Im willing to travel a little ways. I've contacted Matt Irwin (Bill Conners ...

Re: Looking for a turn-of-the-century Sand/Steam Dome castin

Correct. My mistake. He hasn't started casing anything from the patterns yet, but has alot of castings that had already been poured. When he gets cranked up, he will be offering the usra heavy Mikado.

Re: Cleaning a crusty tender tank

Hi Scott, Thank you for the kind words. I have been working pretty hard to get where I am now. I'm still employed by the railroad as engineer and have been for the last 13 years, but due to a very bad derailment, I'm at a career path change that engineers don't normally get. Still want to be with CS...

Re: Cleaning a crusty tender tank

RN, no apology necessary. Very good information there. I should have my trucks blasted by the end of the week and will take some more photos upon completion.
Thank you again,

Re: Cleaning a crusty tender tank

Thanks for the tips on the bearings guys. Dave, I had always thought that "loose balls" was a bad thing. Lol, sorry, I couldn't let that go. I attached a different picture of the trucks. I haven't taken the vacuum unit apart for cleaning and sealing yet. Been working on a caboose and its trucks. The...

Re: Cleaning a crusty tender tank

Hi Herman. The roller bearings I used were matched up with what I took off. From memory, the ID is 3/8" I think the OD is 7/8". I cant remember without looking. I was at my local Fastenal store and had one of the old bearings with me. They measured it and found a match. Had to be ordered but it only...

Re: Cleaning a crusty tender tank

Hello, Just wanted to update my progress. I cleaned the tank thoroughly inside and out. I applied 4 coats of self-etching primer and 4 or 5 topcoats of satin black. Upon re installing the floor, I applied permatex #2 on the mating surfaces (boy that stuff was a mess)! There were a total of 174 screw...

I don't suppose that it would be considered a cary on?
