How will you make the left rear washout plug accessible, which is presently blocked by the brake cylinder?
The joys of building...

Re: Determining manual milling X axis feed ?

I have no need of CNC-style fast heavy material removal, and that's what I have done, with good success.

Re: pancakes

Operating logging steamers in the Pacific NW gave me opportunities to try boiler backhead cooking. Cooking in the oil-fired firebox was not an option. I can happily report that a 4 pound salmon foil wrapped with lemon and onion slices takes about 20 miles at slogging Mallet speeds! And the crew behi...

Re: Railroad Warehouse 2.8.2 Mikado Logger Build

Hmmm, maybe no cow catcher for me lol Just space it safely above railhead height. Here's are pictures of the pilot on my Mike, modeled from Baldwin delivery photos of Polson Logging #90, in 1926. There is actually more clearance than it appears because I placed a white card under the pilot for the ...

Re: Railroad Warehouse 2.8.2 Mikado Logger Build

Many years ago my son and I visited Train Mountain before I had an operating steam locomotive. An early Triennial was happening then. While riding a Friends dismal train and happily touring the line, we headed south from the northern half and as we went under Chiloquim Way a visiting large Hudson st...
