Atlas 3996 Quick Change Tolerances
Hello, I am rebuilding the quick change gearbox for my Atlas lathe. I am trying to what the tolerances should be for the bushings for the gears on the 1/2" shaft. The two compound gears and the single gear. They seam quite loose in mine, I don't know if I should replace the bushings or not. Doe...

Re: Fixing Harbor Freight Lift
take some angle or rectangular stock and build a sub frame on which the casters are outside of the HF frame on the ends and sides That is a great idea. I have never had an issue with the right end tipping, but to move the casters as far to the left as I can will help. You are spot on with the dimen...

This spring makes sure the valve closes and the lift will not creep down. I had a scare the first tim...

Re: Fixing Harbor Freight Lift
A replacement bottle jack assembly is available from Harbor Freight for $43 plus shipping. It will take 6 to 8 weeks for the replacement parts to arrive. While I could have gotten a replacement pump from another jack that would have lead to the need to replace the pumping levers. I ordered the repla...

Re: Fixing Harbor Freight Lift
So I was able to root cause my harbor freight motorcycle lift issue. 1) For two years I have been storing the lift in a up position, sometimes with a railcar on it and no bar to release the pressure. 2) The fluid leaked out of the pump assembly not the ram. 3) The pump has score marks, see picture b...

Fixing Harbor Freight Lift
Searching the forum I could not find anyone talking about when things go wrong with the Harbor Freight Motorcycle lift. Last fall I had a puddle of hydraulic fluid under mine and now the unit will only go halfway up. When I open the fill valve it is full to the brim with fluid. I have tried holding ...

Re: What kind of batteries?
My SBT runs with four 15.5 ah batteries. It will last a weekend running with one rider and one car. It will last about 4 hours of solid running with a couple cars and pulling cars a couple people. I run a pacesetter controller same as the Super Husky and GE and two plum cove drive axles.

Re: Tricks pulled on coworkers and apprentices.
I worked as a machine operator at a CNC machine shop for three years before heading off to college. I was frequently doing things to one coworker I found annoying, typically placing a metal shaving in the key hole of his toolbox. He was less stealthy in his retribution, which of course got him in tr...

Re: Plum Cove Boxcab Controller
Bob, https://sites.google.com/site/eatoncustomengineering/home/super-huskie-locomotives is Rich Eaton's website. I bought my wheels for my riding cars from him. When you get the loco running again you should consider installing an amp and volt meter, I have found knowing how many amps are being draw...

Re: Plum Cove Boxcab Controller
Rich Eaton sells the pacesetter also at a much lower price. Plum Cove does some of the other wiring that adds value to their price. I bought my unit direct, so yes a direct sales is an option. If you were nearby I would be willing to take a look at your unit to help figure out what is wrong. If you ...
