Re: Bridgeport lubcrication questions

Greasing the bull gears is for a variable speed head. The upper oil cup oils the gears in the step pulley head and drive train for the spindle feed. The lower oil cup is for the quill and spindle bearings. Use light spindle oil in the lower oil cup, and medium/heavy for the upper oil cup and oiler f...

Re: fun

I remember when your dad brought it to the Fingerlakes live steamers 30th anniversary meet. I took a lot of pictures of that locomotive and it still looks the same. I also remember your dad putting the engine in the back of a Saturn wagon  to take it home. I hope to see it again at either FLL...

Re: Boyar Shultz table stop

Thank you Harold I really appreciate that. Since I did such a great paint job I may have to paint the rest of the grinder  . I finished the longitudinal table stops last night.

Re: Boyar Shultz table lock

Yes I agree with you, if you can please change lock to stop in the title. Thank you for your kind words. I tried my best to make it look like the original, but the only difference is the material I used was CRS and not cast iron. After completing the stop latch I now understand why they changed it t...

Re: NYC Niagara

When I joined the Fingerlakes Live Steamers I was going to build a 1 1/2 Niagara. Harold and I talked about the Niagara a lot, I miss his stories and Harold. Someday I would love to see your engine in person, you did a fantastic job. Maybe in retirement I may build a 1 inch Niagara.

Re: Boyar Shultz table lock

When grinding punches, core pins, diameters ... using a Harig punch former or a spin indexer, you want the fixture to stop at the same location to grinding wheel for proper dimensions. You grind to a point, stop and move the part away from the grinding wheel and mic up the part, and determine how mu...

Re: Boyar Shultz table lock

Sorry about the confusion, it should be called a table stop bar. I have a picture of what it looks like, but can't seem to transfer it.

Boyar Shultz table stop

I am going to make a table lock for my Boyar Shultz 612 surface grinder. I would like close up pictures, or dimensions of the square flip lock (not round push type). Does anyone have this style of lock that I can get pictures of all sides? Please note that the subject description was originally Boya...

Re: 1.5" scale narrow gauge K-36

I have seen people modify acorn nuts for stay bolt heads, but making them yourself is more fun. Are the gray arms on the back head for grate shakers? Keep up the great work and stay safe.
