Barco low water alarm. Jack Bodenmann made one and I think sells them as well or did. Do a search for barco low water alarm or New York Central J1e.

Re: Unidentified Niagara device

Thank you it is Earl Muller, but it is a Mohawk not a Niagara. The only Niagara in 1.6 scale that I know of was Fred Bouffard’s, and another person that will be missed.

Re: Smokebox Inspection Cover

Hey Karl followed your website for years, and still waiting for you to finish it (ha-ha). I remembered when you asked about a drawing for that cover, sorry I didn’t have a drawing at that time, but got a drawing of the cover when I ordered the drawings for the Mikado from the NYC Historical So...

Re: Unidentified Niagara device

Yes Bill coming up on 10 years since Harold left us. Also reminds me of story of Harold helping a gentleman in Florida who built a Mohawk, sorry can’t remember is name. He sent Harold pictures of a Mohawk with valves circled and asking him what they went to. Harold showed me the pictures and told me...

Re: Bill Yoder-the 3/4-inch audit guy

The unknown Niagara #6000 on page 40 of part 11, maybe Harold Crouch’s of Fingerlakes Live Steamers. It was sold to Jonathan Liebabe (spelling maybe wrong) of Massachusetts. Both have passed away.

Re: Night Running & Lights?

I made marker lights for locomotive and caboose from Bob Ready’s design in Live Steam magazine. For the locomotive lenses I used glass marbles sanded down to 1/2 diameter, using a cold diamond grinder for lathe tooling bits. Jack Boedmen has a post here called “markers and such” showing how he made ...

Re: Steam-operated cylinder drains

That drawing looks a lot like Ben Nixon’s drawing, which I have on my locomotive and works great. I don’t understand what the rear o-ring is for? This design will allow blow by and if you don’t turn off the air to the cocks when stopped can cause the locomotive to move. The Nixon design has the o-ri...
