Bob:
Since Maricopa is now installing a 4.75" track for 1", I have kinda been looking.
I now see lots of steamers in all stages on DLS.
Do you have a Trolley or two you might sell?

Re: Boiler water injection efficiency

...... But I will admit...for as inefficient as a steam powered pump might be...it's a hoot to watch and listen to the pump plug 'n chug! Carl B. I agree... actually, it's a good motivation to built any of these machines and/or the subsystems. While the original question was regarding efficiency......

Boiler water injection efficiency

Has anyone done a study on the efficiency of the various methods of boiler water injection? Seems to me everything on a steam locomotive is pointed towards producing steam used to provide locomotion. Therefore any use or leakage of steam not use for locomotion is wasted. That being said.... of all t...

Re: Oil burning boiler mods

The oil fire ramps up and down so fast copper tubes can pull away from the sheet and start leaking. Seal welding the steel tubes at the firebox end transfers the heat into the sheet better and keeps the end of the tube from burning. .... and roll the smokebox end? Thks... good info to know!, Scotty

Re: Oil burning boiler mods

Marty,
Currently saving up to have a boiler made for my loooong term 10 wheeler build, (I priced one from you last year). Why is it you recommend steel tubes vs K copper in an oil fired version? Seal welded one end?

Re: Q chemical to remove black marker stains on plastic

When they first came out with the Dry Erase markers I brought one home from work, with the war dept. watching I made a swipe at our telephone, grabbed a towel and said, " No prob, watch this". That phone ended up in my shop, and the new $150.00 model took it's place. Some years later i rep...

Re: Boiler wash

So, a couple years back we were cleaning the parts out of the SuperScale injector with a brief vinegar wash. Always a quick dunk, rinse and dry. Then the bright idea.... lets use CLR, it must be better and safer than vinegar. Went and purcased one of those metal tea dunking baskets, the one that loo...
