Re: TIG Welder - Everlast

On the WeldingWeb forums there is a fellow who goes by the handle shovelon who beta tested the Harbor Freight Vulcan machines for HF for a year before they released them, and they made several changes before release due to his suggestions. He owns a welding business in the Ventura, Ca. area where HF...

That's him I really enjoy his expertise, advice, and comments. There are plenty of others but IMO he is the best.

Re: welding aluminum intake manifolds with Hobart 210mvp spool gun

Well I bit the bullet and bought a Lincoln Square Wave Tig 200. Now I've got to learn how to use it. I'm watching lots and lots of Jody's videos and am going to get started today or tomorrow. I went ahead and rewarded myself with a Power Mig 210 MP too. I've got two old cheap Sears welders for sale ...

welding aluminum intake manifolds with Hobart 210mvp spool gun

I restore mid 50s to late 60s dual quad setups almost all of which were mounted on aluminum intake manifolds from the factory. Occasionally I get an intake which needs a little help and have always taken them to a prop service where they tig weld aluminum every day. I am thinking about buying a Hoba...

Re: drilling/cutting holes in wire mesh

Well we went to the big annual Pontiac show in Norwalk Ohio last week and there was a fellow there with the air cleaners in question on his car. I asked him how he put the holes for the studs in them and he said he used an awl and worked up to a 1/4" rod in two steps. When I got home I tried it and ...

drilling/cutting holes in wire mesh

I need to drill 1/4 holes in carburetor flame arrestor wire mesh. It is stainless steel and a very tight weave, and while the wire diameter of the mesh isn't very thick this is pretty tuff stuff. Has anyone done something like this? I thought I would use a washer, or piece of steel with a hole drill...

another method of mounting a BXA QCTP on a 9729 3 in 1

First of all "thank you" to Torch whose post on this subject finally got me to do this. I wish I'd done it ten years ago! First I bought the CDCO BXA QCTP off of ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281990113312 When it got here I noticed that the base was an exact fit on top of the mobile jaw on the compo...

Re: base for milling head on G9729 3 in 1

I should've said that I am "61-63" too. I lost my password and had to register again because I couldn't figure out how to get back in. Not that it matters to anyone.

Re: base for milling head on G9729 3 in 1

Wow I can't believe this old thread still kicks up interest after all these years. I gave up on this idea long ago and bought a 6x26 milling machine instead, and use the 3 in 1 as a lathe and precision drill press.

Thank you I'm going to make one of those plates. How thick is it do you recall?
