Re: Help Wiring Lathe

Poor diagram (common, unfortunately). The center off position is implied.

Re: Help identifying and duplicating this thread.

The pitch is based on your Cross-Slide Hand-wheel Dial Range , forget the Comparitor readings "If" your dial reads .125 for a 360 revolution, then the pitch is indeed .125 (8 Pitch) and LH Yes in this case, but be careful. There are said to be Chinese-made lathes out there that were made ...

Re: Strange electrical happening....

LED -> Light Emitting Diode. LEDs are diodes (rectifiers) but not very good ones. They have a low reverse breakdown voltage and quite a bit of leakage current. Leaving them connected to AC for long may damage them. The SMD part is a resistor.

Re: Running a 3 Phase KEMPPI PS2800 Welder on Single Phase

OK, for the uninformed, please explain how something like a welder can be 3-phase. I can see in motors where the different phases kick in to provide rotation, but 3-phase welder sounds like a 3-phase light bulb to me. Steve The output of a three-phase full wave bridge rectifier has fairly low rippl...

Re: Running a 3 Phase KEMPPI PS2800 Welder on Single Phase

BTW do *not* try to run any three-phase equipment other than a motor from a "static converter". It would be more accurate to describe a static converter as converting a three-phase motor to run on single phase than to describe it as converting single-phase to three-phase. It depends on th...

Re: Running a 3 Phase KEMPPI PS2800 Welder on Single Phase

BigDumbDinosaur writes: If the power source is two-phase, connecting the inputs of a dual-channel ’scope to the hot legs would reveal two sine waves exactly 180 degrees out of phase. 90 degrees. 180 degrees is just opposite ends of center-tapped single phase. Please don't call the grounded conductor...

Harold is correct (as usual). BTW do *not* try to run any three-phase equipment other than a motor from a "static converter". It would be more accurate to describe a static converter as converting a three-phase motor to run on single phase than to describe it as converting single-phase to ...
