Ductile will not "groove" at all like grey iron. It is the type of iron lathe chucks and gears are made of these days and is commonly called "semi steel" because it will not crack and break like grey. Any iron foundry worth dealing with can do ductile just as easily as grey and a...

What about a liquid parrafin wax as a binder. That would add BTU value and burn good.

I should add to my post that any acid treatment must be neutralized with a base to prevent acid corrosion. I use
Tri-Sodium-Phosphate (TSP) as a flush. That's commercial dish washing powder available everywhere.

Lime scaling is a huge problem in our boilers. It can be controlled by "pickling" the boiler often enough to keep it from forming. Distilled vinegar, CLR, or my favorite "Limeaway" are the simplest to use. Correctly treated water is always the best to use, reducing entrained oxyg...

If you do reefers, I would assume box cars would be next ? The hobby needs a source of cheap and easy to build and detail kits like this. We already have all the gons and flats we can handle. lol !
