Re: 7 1/2 gauge 4" Hunslet build, Reeves castings
Thank you to all for following this. Saturday I spent the morning at Kitsap Live Steamers and got several good pictures of Conrad's 3' scale Hunslet and lot's of good advice. It appears an overall widening of the frame by 3/8" is needed. I have a PM in to Fred V about this and will wait for his...

Re: 7 1/2 gauge 4" Hunslet build, Reeves castings
Glenn i was just figuring the 7 1/2 gauge was made up by working with the wheels and the axles and boxes? Were talking 1/8 inch per side. I don't think you change anything about the frame or even the running gear BUT I don't actually know. I will PM Fred if no one gives a definitive answer here. Eni...

Re: 7 1/2 gauge 4" Hunslet build, Reeves castings
Well just spent a frustrating hour trying to post pictures of the castings. I am a drag and drop type and not much on saving to remote sites so I won't be doing pictures for now. That said I think my castings were sent from England last Friday and they showed up here Monday afternoon! 4 days for 250...

Re: 7 1/2 gauge 4" Hunslet build, Reeves castings
Glenn I tried to find that chart for the fasteners but could not located the web page? I would appreciate it if you could post the link here.
Also good info on the wheels. I'll research those before cutting.
Thank You

Re: 7 1/2 gauge 4" Hunslet build, Reeves castings
I am located on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State to answer David's question. The closest track is Kitsap Live Steamers. I talked to one of their members in Tacoma at a model railroad event at Christmas and that kind of kicked me into gear on this. I also have a Little Engines 440 chassis I ...

Re: 7 1/2 gauge 4" Hunslet build, Reeves castings
My first question while waiting for parts to arrive is about fasteners. While I do not have the drawings yet, I am aware that these locomotives are usually built with something called "BA" type. I assume that is a British thread form (I should go grab machinery's handbook I guess). I have ...

7 1/2 gauge 4" Hunslet build, Reeves castings
This is a new blog/thread/whatever 4" scale, 7 1/2 gauge Hunslet build using the Reeves casting kit with drawings and laser cut side frames. Those parts are ordered and maybe 2-3 weeks they will be here. I am a total newbie concerning locomotives so I'm not even sure what all comes in the box a...

Re: HUNSLET QUARRY ENGINE BUILD
OK I will start a new thread when the parts get here, 2 weeks? I'm in Washington State. There is a 7 1/2 gauge track about 40 miles from my house so I will have to join the club at some point after I get the horse in front of the cart. Reeves said this was the 4" scale Milner build. They seem p...

Re: HUNSLET QUARRY ENGINE BUILD
I ordered the complete casting set with laser cut frames and drawings in 7 1/4 inch from Reeves yesterday. I am no good at neticette (neticut? whatever). Should I add on my experiences (unboxing, letting the parts rust in the corner with the other projects etc. :-) here or should I start a new threa...

Re: HUNSLET QUARRY ENGINE BUILD
Hello all! I am new here but I just joined because I am considering purchasing the Reeves Hunslet set of drawings and package deal castings. I am looking for information from anyone who has possibly used their castings and also comments about the drawings. I have machine shop experience and own my o...
