Re: Signaling Beyond Simple Passing Sidings

At Maricopa Live Steamers, there is a simple scheme to avoid the difficulties talked about in previous posts. On the subdivisions that are signaled, the inbound train has priority (steamers might need water since the subdivisions are long). Each subdivision track structure is a series of doubles tra...

Re: 1.5" Scale Ride Astride Passenger Car Kits

Do you have a version for 2.5" equipment? If so, how much?

Re: Car stability paper

At MLS we found that beam cars with a floor about 1" off of the tracks are very stable. If they derail, they don't tip over.

Re: Switch Point Detection continued

On MLS switches, the throw arm indicates the position of the points. No signal heads required.

Re: Searchlight signal build?

Referencing your relay description: What happens when train in block one is going east bound and train in block is three going west bound, both trains will get a yellow signal. What is to prevent a cornfield meet if they both pass the signal(s) at same time? Or is this a single direction line? I kno...

Re: Switch Point Detection continued

Rather than all of this circuit design, why not use the engineers eyesight to determine if the points are position correctly? We have more than 400 spring switches on our railroad and the engineer must watch for points not aligned. Remember the KISS rule.

Re: Electric Engine Controllers

The interface would be a bit more complicated since you have a rocker switch to change direction. The 4QD uses 24 volt / ground input to change direction. Latching relay set and reset by servo contacting micro switches. Servo linkage to pot with mechanical connection for about 120 degree rotation of...

Re: Electric Engine Controllers

Regarding the request for information on remote control for 7 1/2" gauge locomotives. Here is what I use. I use a 4QD-200 controller powering 2 -- 5/8th hp RMI motors. I use 24 volt RMI motors and two yellow top batteries. A 15:1 gear ratio gear box from RMI. I built an interface for a simple four f...
