Re: How to Design Walschaerts Valve Gear

Outstanding video! I've got some drawings I'd like to send you for your opinion/review, if you could send me your email address.

Re: 3/4" pumps Van brocklin

Yes, the drawings are available. I believe the link is somewhere in this thread. Perhaps Bill could repost it here. Yes, if an actuating arm loosens, or, needs adjustment, this arrangement can make it a challenge to get to the set screw. This actually has already happened to me one time. I was able...

Re: Asian/Chinese made Dividing heads

Can these dividing heads be used as rotary tables (provided you can hold what you need to in the chuck). I have neither, but would rather have the dividing head for obvious reasons. I was looking at this one here: https://www.precisionmatthews.com/shop/ ... idinghead/

Thanks,

Re: Don Young Maxi Lucky 7 Drawings ****SOLD****

Don Youngs build notes are very illuminating as published in the build series published in Live Steam between 1977 and 1981 . Good reading for the model engineering enthusiast. I have managed to gather up a full set. Crazy dreamer that I am, I would like to build a Lucky7 When i finish Marie estell...

Re: Is the live steam hobby in decline?

I'm 41, so fall well within the gen. X category. I've always had a strong love for all things railroad, both having worked in the engine shop of an all Alco road, and hogged for two short lines. It's only been recently that I could afford a small machine shop at home, or even consider building a liv...

Re: Handrail Stanchions?

Thanks for the mention of PSC, they have some nice detail parts and good prices on them. The grab rail brackets are too small however, for my scale. Also, thank you for the close up shot of the Baldwin, that has some great detail in it I haven't been able to get in most photo's. I'm going to use a ...

Re: Handrail Stanchions?

Here is a shot of the Tex-Mex No. 510. Note that she had normal hand rails installed in the 80's, but still retained the originals.
