Re: Does Anyone Recognize This Name?

This is a bit late, but yes, I have his/her drawings. I thimk this is a woman, as I see only women coming up on the net with this name. I suspect that her husband may have actually drawn them but she either cleaned them up and "copyrighted" them, or he died first. I am very curious about him/her. I...

Re: Necessity of hardened crank pins on 3/4” scale

It seems the aforementioned issues with the engine being too "tight" were with the design / choice of fit. If "Mr. Precision" manufactured his part exactly as the design intended, and the part failed, then the failure was of the design and not the manufacture. Maybe the choice of fit was not right....

Re: Free 2D CAD Software?

Fusion 360 is free for hobbyists:

Also- there is no 2D vs. 3D program, it is all in one, if you do not want to use the 3D features then simply ignore them.

Re: Making ZA27

I have melted and poured bronze and brass alloys from their base materials (copper, zinc, tin, lead.) You always melt the material with the highest melting temperature first and work your way to the material with the lowest melting point. This process can be difficult and frustrating, especially whe...

If there was real interest producing new cylinder castings would be an easy fix... wheels too.

Do you have a complete drawing set for the engine?

Re: Laying out rectangular cores on foundry pattern

It sounds like your pattern/casting may be more complex than some of us are imagining. As mentioned above, I would add shrinkage uniformly to the pattern as a starting point, if everything works out OK you will have a usable casting. That being said; the volume/mass of a part has an effect on how th...
