Young talent at it's best.

This hand is from Alberta, he's exceptionally good at his craft. Talked to another young welder from the west and he met him.
I was told he's very humble and will do his best to help you out if you ask.

Re: combination welders

It all depends on what you want to do. In my experience a good quality inverter cc/cv powersource will run you a little extra money but will last for as long as you'll need it providing you take care of it. For my own purposes my Lincoln Idealarc 250/300 will do any stick and tig (scratch start) I n...

Re: Pipe thread sealant?

Masters Pro Dope and Metallic Compound are the only sealant our steamfitters use.

Another round column mill spindle bearing question

I see alot of guys changing spindle bearings out. Is this because of necessity or just because?
Do many still use the stock bearings/lube and have you had issues?
Thanks

Re: Stainless steel boiler/exchanger?

As already been mentioned ss is no good for boilers because of the metallurgical problems that accompany it. Having said that. It is used in in UNFIRED pressure vessels and process piping. Provided it doesnt reach the temp at which carbide precipitation occurs its all good. Fireside of heating surf...

Nuby question

Working on my first machining project since high school. I chose Kozo's A3 project. Lol Ive started on the first tender wheel......2yrs ago. Hard to find time with family etc. My conundrum comes at the end of a session in the "shop". Do I completely clean and re-oil my machines? Or can I "walk away"...

Re: Stainless steel boiler/exchanger?

As if this hasn't been mentioned already. Use good joint prep on all groove and fillet welds. Be careful and know your material and know how to weld. Had our local inspector investigate a case where a "backyard" distributing manifold for compressed air was fabricated. A summer student employee walke...

My two cents: Save your money, build your boiler from a good piece of pipe and 516-70 carbon. It will outlast any savings you'd gain by spending 5x as much on stainless.
Good recommendation.
