i had a spark plug screwed into the firing pan, connected to a coil, and a 12 volt battery.....any loss of fire, meant a quick hit on the button, and instant fire again

i have had on occasion, with high water in the glass, pull water into the turret steam valve for the burner, and have water droplets snuff the fire out. ...one has to be quick in relighting, to avoid a face full of oil soot, and a nice healthykaboom..when it relights.....but you will have clean tube...

while taking the side rods off my engine to do some repairs, I was wanting to look into something different for lubrication?....the small hole drilled in the rod, thru, the bronze, does a good job lubricating the pins.....but there also just big dirt collectors. ....was looking at McMaster carr for ...

me too...I've used viton, and it's ok In most applications, but I prefer to use aflas.....even the manufacturer of viton, does not recommend it for steam or hot water

look in msc catalog, at the o ring chart....it grades viton as poor, for steam service...

i think the problem with these valves I purchased, is the fact, when you pull them open, the o ring comes out of the bore....this constant going on and out of the bore, tends to cut the o ring

i was reading, that the manufacturers of viton o rings, dont recommend them for steam service

i had the same problem, except it wasn't with globe valves, it was with the quick pull steam valves. had rubber o ring, kept coming apart, and plugging up the injector.....now the other one is doing the same thing......strands of rubber, plug up the steam cone
