Re: Thread Milling
The late (and sadly missed) John Stevenson once showed a way of mounting an individual cutter from a die head on a slotted arbor and using it to thread mill external threads.

Re: Removing Broken Taps
OK if it happened in my shop I'd pop it out with my die sinker EDM machine. But I appreciate that most home shops wouldn't be so equipped. However there is a relatively simple chuck mounted device that can be home made that given time will also remove a broken tap however hard. Imagine a solenoid co...

Re: 2 Recent jobs at "Odd Bits Fab & Repair"
Good work, but I hope your customers sign a liability waiver, or you have good liability insurance. The heat treatment on that wheel will be all to skew after welding, and the brake valve presumably would need some form of certification. Both parts are what I would class as 'highly critical' in that...

Re: Pitted Table
Another +1 for Devcon. I bought a tin of the aluminium loaded version in (estimate) 1976, came in a cardboard box with two pots and two plastic spoons. The big pot is the actual aluminium loaded material and the small pot smells of ammonia and is the hardener. I STILL have the remains of that box, a...

Re: Unknown tool, help needed
That is the identical tool to one supplied with my first ever 'Mill Drill' from Warco in Guildford as part of the package. If I remember correctly it was the Warco Minor, but that was possibly 20 - 30 years ago! Give Warco a call and ask to speak to Roger Warren if he hasn't retired yet - he was the...

Re: GEC GEM Axis controllers anyone ? :RESULT!
Well it must be my lucky day. I managed to buy a complete GEC GEM servo crate with the correct PSU and two 45 amp servo axis controllers via eBay, which although too small for my faulty 90 amp spindle servo got me turning again, and also gave me the confidence to dive into the electronics of the fau...

Further result!
I rang Fanuc in the UK, who transferred me to their Robodrill subsidiary who arranged it for me - all done by phone. Further result: I came across a fellow with a Tapecut Model L (smaller table than mine but basically the same) who was scrapping it as rats had eaten the wiring. I negotiated to strip...

(Roberty I'm convinced this manual is not relevant to your needs)
