How about post #7.
The post by Harold? I don't see anything disrespectful about it.
To make this statement, "you're cruising for a bruising. ", to a Veteran is okay?
Your Mama didn't raise you right.

Re: Sirens

No one was asking for unbridled political dialogue, just respect where respect is due.

Re: Sirens

I think I know what you're talking about, and if I'm right, you're cruising for a bruising. I just can't help but think that you're discussing a political issue, something that is going to get you banned from the board if you persist. If I am wrong, please accept my apology. If I'm right, cease and...

I venture outside. The night is cold with wind, I hear a twig snap. Instinctively I crouch and scan the shadows No, charlie isn't there.

Re: New Jersey: Cook Tool & Machine

I was at Cooks very recently, my experience was a bit different. Only the owner and daughter (part time) remain. Lots of old large machinery, generally not in demand by US industry anymore. Website photos show a warehouse in the distant past. Very dark and cramped, bring a good flashlight. A whole h...

Re: out of the blue Big Dave

Kind of sad. The guy had a lot of knowledge, shared it with many, had an awful lot on his plate and when he passed, not one word of reaching out to help the survivors. Must be two, three, dozen guys living within an hours drive or so of his homestead. Not even a pass the hat collection for expenses.

Re: How to clamp work....?

TechTony really needs to buy or borrow a book on basic machining practices. Should be able to find something in your local library before you hurt yourself or damage your machine.

Re: And we are back!!

I'm in the minority here, performance may be better, but the look of the home page...barf. Maybe it's just the color choice....I'd have to see old and new side by side.

Find someody on Vintage Machinery dot org with the same machine and contact them. A fellow owner who has restored and uses theirs is probably your best bet.

Re: Want a better machine for drilling large holes

If your are making (drilling) multiple parts, you really want to be setting the work in a purpose designed fixture that bolts right to the table not a vise. A stout drillpress like the one shown by liveabord would be a better choice than a mill drill.
