Mike:
Don't know if there is a pay version but the free version is very good where my house is but 5 miles west (water with small uninhabitable islands) the image goes soft when you zoom in. No spooky gov't facilities there either.

Re: Erskine Tramway

You might try "flash earth" for satellite imagery. Don't know about your area but the images for my area are clearer and newer.

You might want to watch some youtube videos by "Welding tips and tricks". Jodie does a good job breaking down the process and techniques for MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on a variety of materials.

Your wife's kitchen oven should be able to get to 250c (482f) just do a "mother may I" and make sure that there is no oil or other nastys to make smoke/odors.

Re: There aren't enough scenic railways!

We can blame the rails to trails movement for that. Not to mention the anti-rail movement that the Catskill Scenic RR experienced.

Looks good, I like it when our railroads haul revenue loads.

Re: Erskine Tramway

Mike: That's a really fine setup you've created. I'd like a similar firewood hauling rail line on my 5 acres of woods, but the 10% grades and 4 driveway crossings might lead to disaster. (Or fun.) I've enjoyed your postings as you've built your line. Thanks for sharing. ~RN Sounds like a Western Ma...

Looks like good stuff, unfortunately, their smallest quantity is many life times of material for any of us home foundrymen.

Re: Avoiding Marring Of 1" Steel Pipe When Threading

How about using a piece of heavy leather (think old belt) around the pipe before you crank down on the vice?
