Re: Starrett 457

Hi Russ, Here's a drawing of the offset blade for the Starrett square. If the photo isn't adequate, i can scan it & email. I did check it, but it wouldn't hurt to take another look before you start cutting-i'm not the greatest draftsman.

Re: Small Diameter Slitting Saw

Hi, Small slitting saws are used for undercutting mica in motor commutators. Available from supplies to motor rebuilders, EIS for example, but they have a large minimum order. Or did the last time i looked, may be others. We had some IIRC were HS, unfortunately destroyed in a fire. Regards, Earl

Re: "Green Instrument" Engraving Machine Model 106

Hi John, I made the collet integral with the shank end. It is reamed 1/8". In the first photo the end of collet is coned & there is a matching cone in the nut. The coned portion of the collet is slotted (4 slots which don't show up very well in the photo) to allow the collet to grip the too...

Re: "Green Instrument" Engraving Machine Model 106

Hi John, Attached are some photos that show the collet & carbide bits which I think came from MSC. I used an original Green bit to set up to cut the #1 B&S taper. The nut is 5/16" hex, thread is 1/4"-28, drawbar thread is 6-40. The bit was too long & had to be cut in half. The ...

Re: Today's Craigslist Oddity: the Cutawl

Looks more controllable than your typical sabre saw but, for me, bringing the work to the saw rather than vice-versa provides the best control. Since I got one of these... https://www.rockwelltools.com/bladerunner-x2-table-saw-rk7323.html my sabre saw has been gathering dust. Admittedly, it's still...
