Re: Live steam Mt Gretna Project
Yo. Johnpenn74, PM me on this site. Marty, I talked to you about designing a boiler, for the book I'm doing, when I got the rail from you. I even sent you a prototype drawing. Neil K. wants me to drag that project off the back burner. I keep tripping over real life. Greg B. PS: The Derr drawings ARE...

The prototype was featured, years ago, in the Narrow Gauge and Shortline Gazzette.

You might want to look up Russ Page, out Mass.way. I know he was working on some truck parts and some other stuff.

Loco 112,
I don't know what they used, but for 3-3/4" scale and larger, a well polished, stainless bowel works nicely. By the time you cut out for the lamp, the flat bottom is all but gone.

You may want to look over here, too. These results are a little more achievable for the novice and George is a great teacher. When you are ready for post grad work Mr. Bodenman is the man to see.

Re: saddle tank forming
Fred,
Plywood makes a poor hammer form. Perhaps it's enough for the brass. The brass needs to be annealed, repeatedly, during the forming process and the steel (consider loosing the galvanize) should be formed hot. This makes it so much easier to iron out those wrinkles.

I bought one, back in the 70s. I got it in London and hauled it back to Saudi Arabia, where I was working construction. A couple of my Korean crew had so much fun with it that I gave it to them.

Re: Converting a lawn tractor to a locomotive
You may want to jump to 3.75 scale, depending on your engine selection. I have almost all the parts gathered for a 3.75" scale critter utilizing an old wheelhorse hydraulic drivetrain and a Kohler K-341, 16 horse engine. At 3.75" scale, you can ride in, not on. My wheels are RMI 9". G...

Winchester 1300
I have, recently recieved Winchester 1300 Ranger. My local gun shop doesn't believe that a magazine extension for a 1300 Defender will fit on the Ranger, but they don't know for sure. Does anyone, here, KNOW for sure, or is there an extension specifically for the Ranger?
Thanks,
Greg B.
