I would warn you the lapping compound may bind you up solid if lapping the 2 threads together . I would not us diamond compound it will not break down and any left behind will reek havoc . I have made many knives out of bi metal blades drilling spring steel back , lots of pressure oil low speed . to attache handles , generally antler I would use either steel or copper tube as a rivet.
