Re: Quorn Tool and Cutter Grinder
I built one of the Martin Model casting sets into a Quorn T&C grinder and the results are good. I also own a Cinncinnatti #2 and Jet T&C grinders and use the Quorn for small work. I've been happy with it and use the Quorn for small cutters. Things I did to avoid the fiddly bits included swi...

Quorn Tool and Cutter Grinder
Who among us has and has used a Quorn tool and cutter grinder? Is the project worth while? On the subject of casting kits for tools, I had a great time building a filing machine using a kit from http://www.statecollegecentral.com/metallathe/MLA-18.html . The castings were beautiful, easy to machine ...

Re: Form Tool for Wheel Flanges
Jim, When I did a batch of wheels I used a carbide insert cutter with the correct radius. It took a few more steps, but I tend to be too cheap to buy a form tool and don't think my 12" Asian lathe would be happy making that wide of a cut. Here's a description - http://www.chaski.org/homemachin...

Re: Form Tool for Wheel Flanges
I tried to PM or direct mail you but I'm not sure it worked. Any way, is the price $100. If so I would like to buy one.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Re: Form Tool for Wheel Flanges
Thanks to all that have replied. It's a shame that it is not still available. To grind one accurately in an average home shop would seem a bit difficult. I have an electronic controller on a South Bend 16" lathe so I might be able to avoid the chatter problem of a form tool.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Form Tool for Wheel Flanges
Some years back there was a form tool offered by a supplier for turning 1-1/2" scale wheel flanges. Is that still available and from whom?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Re: Cannonball Box Cab Electric
Jim, cool photos, thanks for sharing. I'm curious if you looked at Plum Cove's Generic Electric? I see it has only 2 motors, but the kit is far less expensive than the Cannonball and they say it is bolt together in a weekend. Not as pretty as the Cannonball in photos, but far closer to my budget. B...
