Wow! That is great news. Any timeline on the availability on the 1” product line?

Looks like most of the parts are there. How soon can you have it back together?!

Re: Mild steel vs cast iron - machinability on small machines

I had a mini-mill that poorly fitted gibs and machined dovetails. This may be unorthodox, but I lapped the gibs (which frankly looked like pieces of rough scrap metal)on progressively finer wet/dry automotive finishing sandpaper down to either 600 or 1000 grit (can't remember which)with WD40 on a sh...

Re: 5x6 Bandsaw Blades

I'm not critical of your break in. It's just foreign to me. I'll gladly read anything you're willing to offer so I better understand the reason why a blade needs to "break in". https://www.starrett.com/docs/saw-resources/recommendations.pdf?sfvrsn=2 I guess it is like shaving with a brand new razor...

Re: 5x6 Bandsaw Blades

Next question - breaking-in a new blade. (More of an observation) The manufacturer(s) recommend breaking-in a new blade. The suggested approach and amount of material to be cut breaking one in is more cutting than I will likely do in a year... So I made half a dozen slices through a 2” diameter alum...

Re: 3.5" American On Ebay

SPC marking are on the tender. South Pacific Coast Railroad was a 3' narrow gauge in California. This model captures the flavor of images I found on the internet.

It's on the wrong coast for me.

Re: 5x6 Bandsaw Blades

Thanks. I was able to follow the math...
I will give this a try in the morning.

Tightening the knob by hand as tight as I could results in far greater than 0.004” deflection with pressure, but it does “pluck” a tone, though rather flat...

Re: 3.5" American On Ebay

Seller confirmed 3-1/2” gauge. Built by Lou Flagg of WVLS and GGLS.
If you note, the wheels are entirely between the wood “rails”.

Re: 5x6 Bandsaw Blades

Questions on blade tensioning... Manual states “Finger pressure should cause approximate .004” deflection.” Please define finger pressure. .004” (about the thickness of a sheet of paper) deflection would barely be perceptible. Any more effective suggestions other than buying a tension gauge? Thanks ...

5x6 Bandsaw Blades

I have a JET HVBS-56M 5x6 bandsaw that I have used very little, cutting a few pieces of mild steel bar and aluminum blocks. I have rekindled an interest in live steam and starting (actually completing) a 1" locomotive... I was setting up the saw in "vertical" mode to slice some 1" square x 14ga tube...
