Re: A GREAT DAY AT THE PLS

Dave,

Great to see your daughter enjoying a nice day steaming and running the 1361 with you. 25 tomato pies? Never heard of those before. Something unique to Jersey, lol? Working on my gut as well, lol.

Re: 1” scale D&RGW Alco RS-3s

Bumping this thread up again. I got the RS-3's out this weekend at the PVLS annual Father's Day meet and ran them for about 3 hours Saturday night and probably 3 hours again on Sunday with no issues. These are some great engines and are very easy to operate. They will scoot right along at top speed ...

Re: The passing of Bob Reedy

Does anyone have a reference to the month and year that Bob had the article about the construction of his PRR Atlantic in Live Steam? I've misplaced it and would like to pick up another copy of it. Had a lot of great tips and tricks and photos of how he went about fabricating his PV cylinders among ...

Re: Steel Prices

Being in the rail industry, we have been seeing the increases taking effect over the past two to three weeks now. They are saying that this could continue until the end of the year. When you are bidding on bonded jobs, one has to make it abundantly clear to your suppliers that they're must hold thei...

Re: Centerville and Southwestern Railroad

Dave, has Sherman figured out a way to operate it? Has it been steamed or have any of the refinements been made to it that you talked about like asking the larger injectors or replumbing the engine?

Harold, from what I know, I don't think they ever left Colorado until I bought them this past September. But I may be wrong.

Re: Centerville and Southwestern Railroad

There is a nice DVD that was offered years ago and I think is still available that gives a nice history and overview of the C&SW. Wish I had been born early enough to see it at the Becker Dairy Farm. I know Dave Sclavi lobbied hard to get it relocated and rebuilt in Monmouth County. The 4-8-4 I thin...

Giving this ad a little bump. Both are still for sale. Let me know if you have an interest. These are two great RS-3's...no longer available and fully functional.

Re: will spring steel mill?

Excellent tips for working with spring steel here for making leaf springs. I too have this work ahead of me. I assume all of the slotting and drilling of the center holes takes place before forming the leaves to the intended precamber radius? My plan was to make a hard wood former with the desired r...
