I imagine a quality digital mic, like a Mitutoyo, would provide superior readings to the fourth and fifth decimal places. I prefer the analog mics. Anybody can take a mic that measures to 4 or 5 decimal places and get a measurement. But how accurate will that measurement be? At 4 and 5 decimal plac...

To the OP I totally know where you are coming from, been there. Trying to repeatably measure to .0001 increments can be tough to do as was said previously. I was able to get decent consistency by in getting my mics calibrated by getting a micrometer stand and handling the mic and part to be mic'd as...

Dave Sobel died a few years back. His son Peter had a table at Cabin Fever w/ a bunch of stuff last year (Jan 2011) and the year before.

The best way to get rid of a hornets nest is to close a briefcase around the nest. Then leave the briefcase at a busy street corner. Park nearby and watch the fun. :shock:
