Re: mosley turbo

Francis Moseley originally made the turbo for his 1" scale 0-6-0, and production was expanded to 1.5" scale for commercial purposes. It was produced in both scales.

Re: Steam Dome Ball Valve Throttle

I use 1/4" ball valves in my boilers. Just regular, ol' ball valves. Works just fine. Every loco has its own feel, so you learn your throttle as you use it. it wouldn't matter the type.

Re: Scalecoat paint

I am waiting this news as well. When they went out of business, I went to the local hobby shop and bought what i needed for the next two years. I have used their pain on many of my cars and it works great, and is beneficial when needing to touch up scratches.

Re: John Bailie of Sacramento, California

Here is John's first locomotive, a heavily modified Chloe. John bought this locomotive as a un-tendered 0-4-0, then modified it as a 2-4-0 and built a proper tender. He developed cupped Teflon pistons that he used on all his locos. His Choles pictured above would run on these pistons on as little as...

Re: John Bailie of Sacramento, California

John was my best friend. Over the 35+ years I knew him, we had some good times. We had the same sense of humor, liked to do many of the same things, and loved making mechanical things. He taught me more than I can list here right now, but will in the future. Everything from giving me the confidence ...

Re: Cleaning Flues on Propane Burners

I do have soot build up. My Beas guess is that it hasn’t been cleaned since 1980, was just being safe by saying 1990 for its last cleaning.

Cleaning Flues on Propane Burners

Question I have for you all is how you clean your tubes of you have turbulaors in your flues. I’ve thought of steam cleaning them or blowing sand (sand blasting) through the tubes. I have a 1” scale propane burner and it seems to be starting the struggle of keeping up steam. It is a copper boiler wi...

Re: FINAL RUN!!! Depressed Flat Cars from Pacific Design Shops

Because often they do it for themselves, then open it up to others if they wanted it too. It also helps offset the cost of building their own.

Running a side business takes a LOT of extra time, and most long-term suppliers don't often get to their own projects.
