Re: 8hp vs 16 hp

It looks pretty neat to me. Proportion valves also suggest either engine could supply power. As robust as the Kohler 8 hp is, what if it blows a gasket in the middle of a run? It would be super to have the emergency engine. Perhaps some sections were replaced that would have isolated them. fjwtss :)

Re: What Size Quick Change for Enco 13 x 40?

The turret of mine here, is # 250-111 The collar is above the sleeve. The sleeve is slotted at the top and very tight fit. It sounds like your sleeve is moving around. If that is the case, pulling, cleaning and some locktite should do it. The deal is about tightening that slot of the sleeve without ...

Re: PB Blaster is Snake Oil

I merely dipped into your site. Creditable! ( I don't know why people say incredible when it already happened). This heat disposition is very important and probably a secret. I know that you weren't using torches. Was it that the oxidation presented the very area of higher voltage at different frequ...

Re: Flea Market Score.

There is something else about those. I should have looked before typing. They were made to precision and matched so that, so a pair or more could hold work inside a larger vise. If you have one, good for you and that one has the inside block. It is not for me to know why it is mounted to a swivel ba...

Re: Vintage Craftsman Drill Press

How do we get roped up in this stuff? The person just wants to Sell it and doesn't even have the courtesy to place it in the right category. We can talk drill presses at length. Live Steam is like the first thing he/she saw.
I thought,.. oh screw it.

Re: Setting the compound at 0* or 30*

I think this goes back to alignment or static tramming. The machines flex under pressure but there is a point where the tooling pulls. I have to remember this because the shims and bolts through the column flange make a difference. My old mill/drill was set up so awkward with its shims, I corrected ...

Re: Mill Chatter Fixed.

I must comment about the first post. I have never seen this before. You were right there and saw the problem. Opened it up and increased the stability. Lots of work to do that and make it work. Yours may have been MT #3 . Oh boy, adapting R 8 to a Mt #3 extension doesn't work too good either. Very g...

I must have missed something here. You can't be drinking from that line. What about lab grade pure hose with #12 copper wire wrapped around?
