Re: PVLS August Meet

I am located town line near Glastonbury. In fact the street in front of my house is in Glastonbury, so the maps and GPS system think I am on 7 Lextington road, Glastonbury. If you have a free evening you're welcome to come over for a visit.

Re: Regauging a 7 1/4" Minnie Project

Finished making and installing the axle pump. Basically an Allen Models Mogal pump that mounts thru the saddle. I did leave the hex full height on the head caps. This allows the top check ball to be serviced from above the front deck, and makes getting a wrench on the bottom hex easy. I single point...

Re: Regauging a 7 1/4" Minnie Project

Got the brake rigging finished and assembled. Still need to make the actuation lever assembly that goes in the cab. A lot parts to with all the equalizing linkages. Going to put of designing and building the actuating lever for now, since it can be done after installing the boiler. On to the axle pu...

Re: Regauging a 7 1/4" Minnie Project

Finished machining the baloon stack casting this afternoon. For some reason the previous builder had only machined the bottom half for some reason.

Re: Regauging a 7 1/4" Minnie Project

No not the living room, I finished half of the basement 30 years ago for a play room for the kids. Now it's my clean assembly area away from all the dirt and chips on the shop side of the basement.

Re: Regauging a 7 1/4" Minnie Project

First trial fit of the boiler and part of the cab. Working out the manual brake lever placement and location of some of the brake linkage. Noticed the ports for blow brown are in the cab and will have be plumbed thru the cab floor.

Re: Keyways

Woofruff keys suck in my opinion. They do not assemble and dissassembly well. The key tends to rock and bind, which can make really tough to get apart. You also need a special cutter to make the slots as well. Straight keys work well, you can mill the slots with either a 2 flute end mill (low cost) ...

Re: Regauging a 7 1/4" Minnie Project

Set the eccentrics and timed the valves today. Also blocked it up and ran it on air. A little stiffer than I would like it to be, but it sounded square in forward and reverse,

Sorry do not know how to make Utube videos.

Pinning the eccentrics next, I don't trust set screws not to slip.
