Suppliers of steam vacuum inductors?

Hello all, I am finishing a locomotive and tender project that has vacuum brakes on the tender and would like to power it with a steam vacuum inductor. Doase anyone have sources of suppliers for these. I have run a locomotive in the past that had such a device. But the owner did not no of a current ...

Re: Allen steam fittings

This is what I did for the exhaust attachment on my ten wheeler. I machined the cone off the face of a NPT to flare adaptor to make it a but fitting, I also machined the hex on the flare nut to be slightly smaller for wrench clearance. This set up slows you to center the blast nozzle as well.

Re: How to post pictures?

I downloaded Photo Scaler to my smart phone. It works great since I take my photos on the phone and post straight from there.

Re: Steam fittings-pipe and nipples

You may be able to get them from suppliers like McMasters Carr. I have never had any issues with the quality of their pipe fittings. If you have any commercial plumbing suppliers locally they should have them as well. If there is room for a hex nipple I personally prefer them over plain threaded nip...

Re: Regauging a 7 1/4" Minnie Project

Got drivers a fixed to axles with Loctite retaining compound, mounted the cylinders and cut gaskets for cylinder heads and steam chest. The close fit between front drivers and cylinders required trimming the cylinder covers so they can be installed over the valve head and clear the wheel flange. Tri...

Re: driving a shaft with threads?

You could make a coupling with threads in side it spilt one side with a ccouple of clamping bolts so its clamps on the threads to take up the thread clearance,

On second though why not due coupling with key ways,
And use the standard soft keys normally used in boats for protection of the prop.

Re: Regauging a 7 1/4" Minnie Project

Rest of today was spent on correcting the defencies in the Steven's valve gear links. A lot of time consuming fiddly work. Drilled and put in dowel pins on the rocker arms and lifting arms. They were just set screwed. Added oil holes to the swing links and rocker boxes. And did trial for to get posi...
