Re: Getting password reset

Tom, please PM (Private Message) me your correct email address. I sent you an email with the email address we had on file. You are correct, it bounced so you changed email addresses but did not update it in your User Control Panel. You can do this yourself by clicking on your name in the upper right...

7/16/19: Issues with Images and Avatars

It was brought to our attention that some images and Avatars are not displaying properly and may be showing up as broken links.
We are aware of it and will work to find a solution. No E.T.A. at this point

Re: Steel Grab Irons

Hmmm, somthing must have been edited out before I read the previous notes as I didn't see anything regarding copying published material. If that was previously offered, then fair point. Regards, Mountaineer. The reference to provide a copy of the article was removed from the original post. I apolog...

Re: Steel Grab Irons

The offer to copy and send potentially copyrighted material and involving the Chaski Home Machinist can not be tolerated. Making a reference to an article and citing the issue in which it appeared is not a problem.

Thank you,
Marty

Re: Ballscrew tolerances and real world performance

glass scales are a problem on lathes that small. many companies sell other than 'glass scales' that are much thinner...the big problem, even if you CAN get the glass scale on the lathe is loss of tailstock positioning toward the chuck when working with very small parts. I would be surprised if you ...

Re: Ballscrew tolerances and real world performance

When I get home, will have to see if my slim line glass encoder could even remotely fit the cross slide on my 8x14 lathe, I doubt it. It would be the closed loop stepper or servo driver that would read the quadrature glass scale input, correct? On an 8x14" lathe, the C7 ballscrews with close loop s...

Re: Building a CNC router

I have been at it for 3 years. I'm in the process of putting my CNC router together. I have all the parts except for the motors and electronics. It measures 36 x 84 and was meticulously designed to be rigid. As with any ongoing project, I will always find places where improvements can be made. I fi...

Re: mhp s-24, st. louis

I am back, got busy and computer issues. Yes it is just a knee mill. The control is dead. The plan is to get it going with the all in one conversion without the tool changer to start with. Phase 2 will be adding the tool changer and maybe rigid tapping. the machine already has good servo motors and...
