Depending what you're looking for, I use this outfit all the time, mostly in smaller scales. They do small runs, etc.

Simple lubrication question...
Q- does the pump ram on my Crab axle pump need lubrication of any sort? Would doing so be 'cheap insurance'? It's a simple one-ram pump with a neoprene ring on the stainless pump ram.. I have the pump out right now, so now's the time to do it..

'soft' silver solder...
What are you guys using for "soft" silver-bearing solder? Not the hard, hi-temp stuff, but the stuff you'd use to solder water tanks, that sort of thing. The stuff I'm getting at the big box stores is garbage any more, won't flow, etc.

Mike- super nice! Exactly what the hobby needs- a well designed, highly intuitive website with 21st century functionality. Best to the new owner in carrying on the tradition that Gene started. Oh, feel free to add pics of my Chloe when you get that page up and running.

Re: German Locomotives in the USA
I know of two out here on the west coast. A friend has a 2"+ scale Koppel for 4.75", built by a Spanish firm, TJV. It's a simple 0-4-0T. He had a nearly matching 0-6-0 at one time, but I think it went back to the supplier, or..? I own a @1.5" scale OS made Koppel 0-4-0t, also for 4.75...

Re: Little Engines Crab - Son's first locomotive
What a great story...that's sort of the way I acquired my first locomotive. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Crab. It's a lot of fun, and very easy to handle. I 'narrow gauged' mine too- I'll try to post pics here, or you can go either to my FB page or Mike Massee's (Captain Harlock' to...

Re: G scale question
Chris- my rule of thumb is, I use nothing tighter than 10'. Although most of my equipment has only 4 drivers, the bigger the radius, the more forgiving it will be. You can avoid having to use rc to run. And, it will be 'visitor friendly' for people with larger, mainline equipment.
